DDC Press Releases

The Parish Council has received two press releases from DDC:

COMPOST BIN DISCOUNT

Residents can claim a £10 discount on their council tax when they buy a compost bin and take advantage of an offer by Daventry District Council. Anyone who has bought a Home Composter from Recycle Now (WRAP) will be able to claim the money off their council tax bill. The Home Composters can be bought from www.recyclenow.com/compost or by calling 0845 076 0223 quoting reference HCA9, and cost from £27.To claim people need to collect, complete and return a form to the Council, along with a valid copy of their receipt from Recycle Now in order to validate their claim.

GREEN WASTE BINS

In line with many other local authorities nationwide, recycling crews will no longer collect brown bins containing anything other than green waste and cardboard. Crews who discover contaminated waste will place a non-collection sticker on the side of the bin to inform the householder their bin has not been collected and advising them to remove the contaminated rubbish.

“We appreciate that the majority of householders in our district follow the correct recycling guidelines, but there are instances where non-compostable waste has been found in the brown bins, including building materials and bin bags of rubbish”.

The brown bin accepts the following waste:

plants and flowers, hedge cuttings, prunings, bark, weeds, grass cuttings, small amounts of turf,

cardboard boxes and corrugated cardboard, sawdust, straw, wrapping paper and greetings cards,

            non-windowed brown envelopes
