LOCAL CAT INJURED BY PELLET GUN

We would be appreciated if this could be circulated to as many residents as possible as this is very worrying indeed.

I have written up an outline of our past weeks with our dear cat and do appreciate your help with this. I doubt that we will find out who did it or that the culprit will come forward but if the incident is made known to the residents perhaps the person responsible will realise that this will not be tolerated and may even be prosecuted.

Our cat was shot late afternoon, early evening on the 4th May. He managed to get home late that night and was in obvious pain. He was taken to the vet  first thing on the Tuesday morning. Upon inspection the Vet suspected that he may have been shot but said that he would not like to think that anyone in this area would purposefully ’shoot a cat’, and judging by the position of the wound it could only have been done deliberately.

Giving the residents the benefit of the doubt he felt that he may have injured his cruciate ligament getting over a fence or such like and would give it a few days on antibiotics and anti inflammatories. To cut a long story short, the cat deteriorated in the next few days resulting in numerous visits to the vet and x rays.

It has been confirmed that he was shot with a pellet gun (air rifle) in the femur and has fractured the bone. The vet was insistent that this incident is to be reported to the police and to the RSPCA, this process for further investigation is underway as cruelty to animals is totally unacceptable.

Who would think that someone in our neighbourhood could be this callous!! It baffles my mind. I have an idea of the route that he takes when wandering the village so have an idea of where he may have been shot, but cannot be sure???

I would like the residents of Hannington to be advised of this incident and if anybody else has had similar experiences they too should report it.

I would like to thank you for you help.
